What type of facial should I start with?
We recommend that everyone starts off by getting a Signature Facial.
This will be the time where we can assess your facial needs and where to go for a future skin care regiment.
What are the benefits of a facial?
When received regularly, facials result in noticeable improvements to skin tone, texture and appearance. A facial has the power to restore the skin’s normal balance of oil and pH. Additionally, results include skin softness, increased blood circulation, lymphatic drainage, increase in collagen production & an overall healthy glow. To top it off, they promote complete mind & body relaxation. We will also provide you with a proper skin care regiment specifically for you & only you!
How often are facials recommended?
This will depend on skin type and what we are trying to treat. Severe acne conditions could range anywhere between 2-4 weeks, whereas a normal/aging skin type would be every 6 weeks. Your skin care therapist will discuss this with you.
Will a facial make me break out?
A facial should not in fact make you break out; our products are strictly water based.
It's what you put on your skin after, that can cause you to.
Think of it like this.
How many times a week do you wash your makeup brushes? Do you have a proper skin care regiment? How often do you change your bed sheets & pillow cases? Do you touch your face all the time? How clean is your cellphone?
We will give you pointers on what to do and what to avoid.
I'm using the products you recommended. I am still getting cystic acne, what do I do now?
At this time, we will start tracking your lifestyle.
Gut health/what you eat - Food does not cause acne, but it can aid in a flare up. Everybody has PH acne bacteria, but it can be triggered. For example, there has been a link from dairy to cystic acne. Due to the fact cows have IGF-1 hormones, when transferred to humans, it can cause us inflammation.
We could try changing up your cleaning products - as they could cause chemical contact dermatitis.
We could refer you to a dermatologist for a second opinion.
We could track when flare ups occur. (Is it around your cycle? Did you have recent surgery? Are you on medications that cause hormonal fluctuations?)
There are many steps we can take together to try and rule everything out. Everybody is different - but it's worth a try!
